ATHOL - Lottie J. (Simpson) Crawford, 91, of 59 Highland St., Athol, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 in the St. Vincent's Hospital, Worcester. She was born in New Castle, New Brunswick, Canada, on September 10, 1916, the daughter of the late Byron and the late Janet (Cassidy) Simpson. She worked in Purchasing at L.S. Starrett Tool Co., before her retirement in 1979. She was a long-time member of Athol Congregational Church. She enjoyed getting together with her neighborhood sewing club, spending time with her family, and knitting. She leaves three daughters, Candace Young and her husband Robert of Monson, MA, Karen DiRico and her husband Dennis of Marlboro, Carol Torchia and her husband Joseph of Orange; one sister, Hazel MacDonald of Athol; three grandchildren, Heather North and her husband Ronald of Monson, Christian Young and his wife Jennifer of Monson, Kasey Torchia of Orange; three great-grandchildren, Ashley North, Jack Young, and Alex Young; also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Carlton R. Crawford, in 1994; also by her five brothers, Olaf Simpson, Mervyn Simpson, Jack Simpson, Joslyn Simpson, and Billy Simpson. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main Street, Athol. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Friday, March 14, 2008 at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Athol Congregational Church, 1225 Chestnut St., Athol, MA 01331.
