Louise A. Terrien
Athol – Louise A. (Hickey) Terrien, 66, of 75 Pequoig Avenue, died Friday, May 18, 2012 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester.
Louise was born in Detroit, Michigan, January 12, 1946, the daughter of Francis and Mary Ella (Cullen) Hickey. She grew up in Detroit and Jefferson, MA, attending Wachusett High School later earning her GED and since 1973 has resided in Athol. She attended school to become a licensed social worker in Manchester, NH.
Louise worked for Newton's Ambulance as an EMT, North Central Human Services, Catholic Charities and was a nanny for several years. She was a member of the Athol Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. She always loved telling a good story, enjoyed listening to Rod Stewart, Harry Chapin, Janis Joplin and Meatloaf and was very proud of her Irish heritage. Louise enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, but most especially enjoyed her great granddaughter Emmi.
She leaves her husband of 39 years, George A. Terrien; two daughters, Melinda Bowler and her husband William of Athol and Viki LaRoche of Orlinda, TN; a son, George L. Terrien and his wife Christy of Suffolk, VA; seven grandchildren, Desiree Terrien, Tom Parker, Jr., Mariah Weselovs and her husband Nicholas, Challie and Eathen Terrien, Janna LaRoche and Ariel Garnet; and a great granddaughter, Emmi Decoteau. She also leaves 10 brothers and sisters, Dennis, Terry, Brian, Tim, Maureen, Lillian, Lynn, Earl, Joyce and Mark. She was predeceased by two brothers Pat and Steven.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, May 23rd from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol. A private burial will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Cemetery in Winchendon at a later date. For further information or to share a memory with the family go to:
