MARLBOROUGH – The Sisters of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin mourn the loss of Sister Lucile Lacouture, formerly known as Sister Lucile-de-Jesus, who passed away at Marie Esther Health Center in Marlborough, MA on July 19, 2017.
She was the daughter of Florence Champeau and George Lacouture of Millbury, MA.
Sister Lucile entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Assumption on January 21, 1937. She was a passionate high school teacher who knew how to motivate her students to live history as it unfolded and to become involved citizens. She taught in Laconia, NH; Southbridge, Everett, Salem and Millbury, MA. After many years in the ministry of education in the classroom, she was involved in Religious Education, the tutoring of adults and visiting the sick and the homebound. She spent her last years in the ministry of prayer.
Sister Lucile is survived by her beloved sister Marie Bissell and her husband Harry Bissell of Palm City, FL, several nieces and nephews, and the members of her Congregation, the Sisters of the Assumption.
Calling hours will be held at St. Anne Convent, 720 Boston Post Rd. E., Marlborough, MA on Saturday July 22, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday July 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne Convent Chapel in Marlborough. Interment will follow in the East St. Cemetery in Petersham, MA.
