Lucille Selma (Bordeaux) Cummings

Lucille Selma Cummings Barre - Lucille (Bordeaux) Cummings passed away on September 17, 2011. She was born in Keene, NH on July 21, 1920, the daughter of Ray L. and Alma C. (Anderson) Bordeaux. At the age of seven her parents moved to Barre where she spent her childhood with seven siblings on the family's small farm. After graduation from Barre High School, she worked in the payroll department of the Charles G. Allen Company for a short time.            On January 29, 1941 she married her husband, Charles A. Cummings. They were married for 52 years before Charles passed away in February, 1993. Together they raised and were totally devoted to their four children.      Lucille is survived by her four children, Ronald and his wife Joan of Petersham, Nancy Jackson of Hubbardston, Jeffrey and his wife Robin of Barre, Gerald and his wife Connie of Trenton, Illinois, her sister, Velna Roberts of Marshfield and her brother Clark Bordeaux of Barre. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 3 great- great grandchildren (with twins due in January) and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her special friend and devoted caregiver, Regina (Gigi) Donahue of Barre. She was predeceased by her sisters: Alma Phelan, Eleanor Small Downey, Audrey Benoit, Arline Kinscherf and Carmen Bordeaux.    Lucille was a member of the Barre Congregational Church and a 58 year member of     the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 2.      Her love of family and friends was evident, not only during conversations of her many fond memories, but with her soft, warm smile and caring for others.      A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Barre Congregational Church, Park Street, Barre, MA. Burial will be in Number 4 Cemetery, Barre, MA at the convenience of the family.
