Lucy E. Verock

ATHOL - Lucy E. (Piragis) Verock, 90, died Saturday, August 12, 2006, at the Leo P. LaChance Center in Gardner, MA after a short illness. Mrs. Verock was born Jan. 7, 1916, in Athol, MA, to Paul P. and Cicilija V.(Morkaucis)Piragis. She married Frank P. Verock on January 5, 1935 in Athol, MA at St. Francis Church. As a life-long resident of Athol, she was a member of the Saint Francis of Assisi Church and former President of its Women's Guild, a former member of the Athol Golden Ages Club, and worked at J.F. McElwain Shoe Company for over twenty-five years. She is survived by her sons Frank P. and his wife Gayle Verock of Acton Maine and Michael J. and his wife Mary Verock of Athol. She also leaves grandchildren; William Verock, Karen, Kelly (Stein), and Kevin Mahoney, Dr. Ruth Verock-O'Loughlin, Emily Verock, Frank P. Verock III, Joseph Verock, and James, John, and Michael Connolly. She also leaves several great-grandchildren. Mrs. Verock was preceded in death by her husband Frank, daughter Dorothy A. Mahoney, grandson Jesse A. Verock, and brother Edward Piragis. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at 6pm at St. Francis Church followed by a time of fellowship in the church hall. There will be no calling hours. The burial will be at the convenience of the family at Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the St. Francis Building Fund, 101 Main St. Athol, MA 01331.
