M. Howard Goodfield

ATHOL – M. Howard Goodfield, 97, of Athol passed away Monday, May 30, 2011 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol.     Howard was born on March 10, 1914, he was the son of the late Peter and the late Catherine A. (Lundragan) Goodfield. He grew up in Athol and was a graduate of Athol High School with the class of 1932.     Howard was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church where he served as Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Layman’s Retreat League. He was awarded “Person of the Year” in 2007 for his hard work and dedication to the community and service to Our Lady Immaculate Church. Howard also was a dedicated Troop Master for Troop 18 Boy Scouts of America and served on the board for many years.     Howard leaves two sons, Dr. Peter Goodfield and his wife Nona of Culpeper, VA, Dr. David Goodfield and his wife Pat of Arvada, CO; two daughters, Mary Griffith and her husband Phillip of Orange, Anne Lewis and her husband Darrell of Brunswick, GA. He also leaves nine grandchildren, Marina Oliver of Texas, Gabriella Goodfield of Italy, Jennifer Shultz, Kathye Marshall, Terri Dickerson all of Virginia, Daniel and Andrew Goodfield of Colorado, Abigail Griffith of Orange, Jeffrey Losius of Greensboro, NC; and eight great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 75 years, E. Beverly Goodfield, who passed away on February 26, 2011, by his son, Carl Goodfield who passed away in 1985, by a sister, Dorothy Horan, and by a nephew, Rev. Vincent LeGere.     A private burial will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery in Athol.   $(document).ready(function(){ });
