Madeline (Lovewell) Freeman

September 3, 1926 — January 10, 2015

GARDNER-Madeline Lovewell Freeman, the daughter of Roger W. and Edith Lovewell, who both predeceased her, died January 10, 2015 after a long illness. Born in Hubbardston, Massachusetts on September 3, 1926. Graduated Athol High School Class of 1944. Following her marriage to A. Wallace Freeman (b. Barre, MA), who predeceased her, lived in Syracuse, NY for 20 years.  Also lived in New Hampshire before moving back to Athol, MA.  The family appreciates the care given to her at Sterling Healthcare during her latter years. Her first job was working for New England Telephone Co. as a switchboard operator; and later worked as a secretary in several offices including Veterans Services in Athol, MA; Mt. Wachusett Community College; and Dartmouth College. She was a past member of the Newport, NH Garden Club and the National Federation of Business and Professional Woman’s Clubs, Inc. She is survived by two sons, Lawrence M. Freeman of CO and Edward W. Freeman of Chicopee; and two daughters, Carole E. Schanel of Florida and Joan B. Mott of Virginia; one sister, Janice Lovewell of Brewster; one brother, Roger Lovewell of Holden; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. One daughter, Cynthia A. Hutchins, and two sisters, Marjorie Lovewell Stewart and Joan Lovewell Freeman predeceased her.    A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the Mack Funeral home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner.  A  calling hour will be held from 10 - 11 a.m. on Saturday.  Burial will follow in Lovewell Cemetery in Hubbardston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Madeline's memory to the Lovewell Cemetery, Cemetery Commission, Town of Hubbarston, 7 Main St., #7, Hubbardston, Ma  01452. $(document).ready(function(){ });
