Margaret H. (Hobbs) Scerra, 91, formerly of Gardner, died Friday evening February 10, 2012 in the Life Care Center of Leominster.
She was born January 26, 1921 in Boston, MA, the daughter of the late Leslie L. Hobbs and Mary (Parks) Hobbs.
She leaves her two sons: Christopher A. Scerra of St. Pete Beach, Florida and Peter L. Scerra of New Mexico, two daughters: Kathleen M. Moody and her husband James of Gardner and Christina DeCarolis and her husband Richard of Leominster, nine grandchildren: Raegan Scerra, Katherine Moody, Leslie Moody, Logan DeCarolis, Kyle DeCarolis, Travis Scerra, Alison Scerra, Veronica Scerra,Nicholas Scerra, and one great granddaughter, Veronica Scerra.
She was predeceased by her son Thomas A. Scerra, DDS in 1987, and a sister Alice F. McInerney in 2003.
Margaret worked as a secretary at Montachusett Home Care, and was also a secretary at SacredHeart School. For many years she was a volunteer at Heywood Hospital. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Gardner and was a former member and Past President of the Catholic Women's Club.
Margaret served on the board for the Gardner Chapter of the Council on Aging, as well as the Board of Directors for Montachusett Home Health Care. She enjoyed knitting and reading and was a lifelong, devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret will be held on Tuesday, February 14,2012 in Sacred Heart Church, 166 Cross Street, Gardner at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Affinity Hospice in care of the Life Care Center of Leominster 370 West Street, Leominster, MA 01453.
