Margaret J. “Peg” (Hibbard) Miller, 81 of Gardner passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020 from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease and Covid 19.
She was born in Montpelier, Vt on September 10, 1938, daughter of the late James L. and Geraldine (Gosse) Hibbard. She was a graduate of Montpelier High School, class of 1956 and Colby College, Waterville, ME, class of 1960.
Peg worked as a laboratory technologist at the University of Vermont College of Medicine after her marriage to Dr. Donald Miller in 1961. She was a homemaker for many years while her children were young. Peg was an EMT for Wood’s Ambulance which led to employment at Wachusett Mountain as a member of the ski patrol. She later became a registered ski instructor. Peg was a realtor employed by Trigg Realty in Gardner. For a time she also coached the Gardner High School girls’ J.V./Varsity tennis teams.
She was a president of the Knowlton Foundation for the Elderly. She was a member of the Gardner College Club, The Gardner Boat Club, the Heywood Hospital Aid Association and the Gardner Museum.
Peg was an outdoor enthusiast. She was an avid tennis player, golfer, biker, skier and hiker. Together with her family, she enjoyed time in Vermont and Lake Monomonoc in NH. Music was important to her as she played the clarinet in high school and college and, later, joined Don singing in the Greater Gardner Community Choir as well as the church choir. Her interest in quilting soon developed into a passion. She pieced together beautiful creations that were bestowed upon beloved family and friends.
Besides her husband, Don, of 58 years, she is survived by her daughters, Nancy Tanguay (David) of New London, CT, Susan Nash (Paul) of Ashland, MA, grandchildren, Ryan Tanguay (Sarah), Amanda Inman (Cam), Marissa, Derek, and Alexis Nash, great grandchildren Hazel and Paige Tanguay, a brother, J. Lawrie Hibbard (Sally) of Feura Bush, NY.She was predeceased by a son, James E. Miller.

Due to the current public health concerns and limitations established for large gatherings, the Funeral Service and interment will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
