Margaret M. Wheeler
Ocala, Florida - Margaret (Montgomery ) Wheeler, 93, passed away on March 17th, in Ocala, Florida. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, John W. Wheeler and is survived by her two sons and their wives, Mark and Kathy of Hampton, VA, and Craig and Liz of Ocala. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Dylan (Stephanie), Emory, Blake, Erin (Taylor) and Nicholas.
Margaret grew up on Stowe Hill in Troy, NY, and after graduating from high school, she attended Mildred Elley School of Business. She was the first female bank teller in Troy, where met her future husband. She fondly recalled many stories about growing up in Troy such as walking down the hill and then up the hill to attend Levings Methodist Church. She was a Girl Scout troop leader, a talented knitter, baker and basket weaver. She volunteered at the historic Congregational Church in Barrington and at the RISD Museum in Providence. Margaret was also the proprietor of Fireside Antiques and Collectibles. She enjoyed American history and especially the Colonial period.
Margaret was a fifty-two year resident of Barrington, RI, and had many adventures with her husband John, including racing and cruising classic sailboats. Margaret and John moved to Florida in 2009, where they lived with and received loving care from Liz and Craig and their children. She had a long and wonderful life.
A graveside service will be held at Lawrence Brook Cemetery, Royalston, MA, at a date and time to be announced.
