Margaret A. Masure
Athol – Margaret A. “Maggie†(Purple) Masure, 62, of 144 Lake Ellis Road, died Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare surrounded by her family.
Maggie was born November 11, 1948 in Gardner, Massachusetts, the daughter of Alexander A. and Dorothy C. (Ross) Purple. She grew up and has lived in Athol all of her life, graduating from Maria Assumpta Academy and also attending Junior College.
She worked as a secretary for Dexter Park and Fisher Hill elementary schools for 11 years. She was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church. Maggie loved all outdoor sports, motorcycle trips around the country with her husband, antiques, going to auctions, and long walks with her dog Sammy. Maggie was very fun loving, always had a smile for everyone she met and will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
She leaves her husband of 15 years, Fred Masure; a son, Matthew King of Juniper, FL; a daughter, Amanda King of Worcester; a step-daughter, Jill Masure of Gardner; a step-son, Jason Masure of Summerville, SC; two brothers, Robert Purple of Myrtle Beach, SC and John Purple of Sanbornton, NH and a sister, Jane Lachance of Athol.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street, Athol with the Rev. Fr. Krzysztof Korcz, associate pastor officiating. Those attending the Mass are asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery and calling hours will be held Friday, October 21, 2011 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Maggie’s name to the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Dana Unit, 821 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol, MA 01331.
