ATHOL - Margaret E. "Maggie" (Cummings) (Loverro) Sicard, 83, of 2154 Main St., Athol, died Saturday, August 30, 2008 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol. She was born in Warwick on August 10, 1925, the daughter of the late Arthur and Eva (Sweeney) Cummings. Mrs. Sicard grew up in Warwick and moved to Athol after marrying the late Dominic Loverro. She worked for the former Cass Toy Company in Athol during World War II. After her husband passed away, Mrs. Sicard married the late Conrad Sicard, and together they opened the Plymouth Cafe and Bar in Leominster. She owned and operated the business from 1967 to 1985. She was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church. She loved playing bingo, poker, dominoes, and yahtzee. She was known at Quabbin Valley Healthcare as the "Domino Queen", winning several tournaments and playing enthusiastically. She leaves two daughters, Lucille Decatur and her husband Tom of Fitzwilliam, NH, Peg Shepardson and her husband Bob of Athol; one sister, Hazel Beauchman and her husband Ernest of Athol; one brother, Joseph Cummings and his wife Marilyn of Athol; a sister-in-law, Angelina Nelson of Athol; a brother-in-law, Harry Lyman of Athol; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, to whom she was married for 25 years, Dominic Loverro, who died in 1966; by her second husband, Conrad Sicard, who died in 1978; by her son, Michael Loverro, who died in 2000; by her daughter, Cindy Lonergan, who died in 2007; by two brothers, Arthur Cummings, Jr., and John Cummings; and by her two sisters, Shirley Vorce and Marie Gates. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in Gethsemane Cemetery, Daniel Shays Highway. Calling hours will be held Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 9 - 9:45 a.m. at the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Quabbin Valley Healthcare Activity Fund, 821 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol, MA 01331.
