Margaret (O'Brien) Taintor

ATHOL – Margaret (O’Brien) Taintor, age 83, of Athol died Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Broadview Assisted Living of Winchendon.   She was born April 22, 1930 in Athol, the daughter of the late William J and the late Annie E. (Fay) O'Brien.  She married Edward J.Taintor, Sr. on June 6, 1953.   She was a life-long resident of Athol and a graduate of Athol High School.  Mrs. Taintor was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church.  She taught CCD there for many years.  She was also a den mother for Cub Scouts and Campfire Girls.  She enjoyed spending time with family, walking, hiking, camping, traveling and trips to the coast of Maine.  She was very creative with arts and crafts, a seamstress and she enjoyed reading.  She participated in her kids activities throughout her life.    She is survived by one daughter, Margaret M. Upshaw and her husband Curtis of Petersham; two sons, Edward J.Taintor and his wife Ann of Madera, CA,  Bartlett Taintor and his wife Kate of Webster, MA; one sister: Anne O'Brien of Baldwinville; one brother: Robert O'Brien and his wife Joan of Orange; seven grandchildren, Brendan Taintor, Jessie Taintor, Mary Taintor, Bartholomew Taintor, Mike Upshaw, Mark Upshaw and Patty Upshaw, two great grandchildren:  Hazel Taintor and Helen Taintor and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years Edward J. Taintor, by her daughter, Ellen Taintor, by two brothers, William J. O'Brien and Bartlett O'Brien and by one sister, Ellen M. Ellinwood. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 31 at Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol.  Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol. A calling hour will be Monday, March 31, 2014 from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange, MA.
