SHELBURNE FALLS – Maria Christina Domenici, 68, of Shelburne Falls formerly of Gardner died unexpectedly onTuesday, May 30, 2017 in Greenfield.
She was born October 25, 1948 in Gardner the daughter of the late Dr. Trento J. Domenici and Beatrice M. (Sleeper) Domenici.
Maria grew up in Gardner and graduated from Gardner High School with the class of 1966. She was on the swimming team in high school. She attended Albertus Magnus College in New Haven Connecticut and Olivet College in Olivet Michigan receiving her bachelors degree in medical technology.
She worked as a medical writer for many years. In addition she worked at Heywood Hospital and Gardner and Noble Hospital in Westfield. She also worked for the American Red Cross in Dedham for many years. She also worked as a secretary for several town boards in Buckland, MA.
She was a volunteer for the community meals at Trinity Church in Shelburne Falls. She enjoyed cooking, golf, literature, French and art. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed watercolor painting.
She leaves three sisters Trice L. (Domenici) Hyer of Charlemont; Gina Krummel and her husband Philip of China Maine; Martha Haley and her husband Gregory of Templeton; one brother, Larry Domenici and his wife Josiane of Braintree; and several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Maria was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her brother Trent C. Domenici who died in 2007.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 10 AM in Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell St., Gardner. Burial will follow in St John's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Friday, June 2, 2017 from 5 to 7 PM in the Lamoreaux – Fletcher & Smith Funeral Home 105 Central St., Gardner.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be made in her memory to the American Red Cross 180 Rustcraft Road #115, Dedham, MA 02026.
