GARDNER- Maria Luisa (Lull) Gilman or fondly remembered as Mary Lou, passed away suddenly on Tuesday June 8th.
She was born on September 3rd 19("Non of your business") 43 in Omaha Nebraska. She was the beloved Daughter of Sumner Hale Lull and Ines' Maria ("Rodriguez") Lull. Mary Lou graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science Degree from Springfield College in 1966, where she met and married her soul mate of 32 years Robert H Gilman of Lewiston, ME in 1965.
Mary Lou was well known as the Health and Physical Education Director in the Gardner Public School System for 31 years. She was cherished as Mrs. Gilman who directed and ran the summer gymnastics program and many other intramural programs at Elm Street School. Mary Lou worked at the Henry Heywood Hospital on the Mental Health Unit from 1989 as a Mental Health Technician and then as a Senior Mental Health Therapist until 2013, after Graduating with a Master in Science in Counseling from Fitchburg State in 1994. She completed her post Graduate studies in Child Protective Services from Fitchburg State in 1995.
She was passionate with her work on the Mental Health Unit and continued her education as a Crisis Avoidance Instructor, and she was part of the Suicide Prevention Taskforce. She was an active Church member for many years at the Sacred Heart Church in the Parish Counsel, Youth Club Advisor and Religious Ed Teacher. She was a current Member of Holy Rosary Church where she had multiple Volunteer positions. She was a recipient of the House of Peace and Education Volunteer of the Year award.
She is survived by her children Kristi (Gilman) Pucillo and Husband Joseph Pucillo of Acton MA, her Son Robert H. Gilman and Wife Annie Gilman of Lunenburg MA, her older Sister Ruth Lull and Husband Robert Parsonage of Cable, WI, Brother Thomas Hale Lull and Wife Cynthia Lull of Fort Lauderdale, FL. She was Beloved Abuela to Nicholas(19) and Olivia Pucillo (16), Catie( 8), Robbie (5) and Sophie(5) Gilman. She was predeceased by her Husband Robert Haynes Gilman. Her Selfless Generosity bestowed to her family, friends, Church and many Organizations will be sadly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 11 am in Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, June 15,2021 from 5-7 pm at the Mack Family Funeral Home 105 Central St. Gardner.
