LEOMINSTER - Marie G. Leger, age 89, of Templeton formerly of Leominster, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a short illness on Saturday, February 27, 2016.
She was born October 28, 1926 in St. Damien NB, Canada the daughter of the late Henry and the late Josephine (Cormier) Gauvin. She was predeceased by her husband Roger Leger in 2006.
She leaves behind one daughter, Denise Miller and her husband Roy of Martinez, GA; two sons, Normand Leger and his wife Sandra of Templeton with whom she resided; Ronald Leger and his wife Patricia of Worcester; six grandchildren, Jeannette, Michael, Miranda, Michelle, Emily and Matthew; and three great grandchildren, Angelina, Aidan and Alex, Jr.
She was also predeceased by three brothers, Emile Gauvin of Leominster, James Gauvin of St. Antoine NB, Leo Gauvin of Moncton NB; three sisters, Eloise Bastarache of St. Nazaire NB, Ima Bastarache of St. Nazaire NB, Alma Williams of St. Antoine, NB.
Marie resided in Leominster for many years at 20 Fifth St. She was an avid Bingo player.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster, MA. Burial will be private at a later date. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
