Marie L. (Young) Tatro

Marie E. Tatro Athol – Marie E. (Young) Tatro, 72, of 739 Daniel Shays Highway died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare.      Marie was born in Orange, Massachusetts, July 17, 1941, the daughter of Edward A. and Genevieve A. (Schenk) Young, Jr.  She grew up in Athol and Phillipston, attending schools in Athol, Phillipston and Templeton and has resided in Athol most of her life.        Marie worked as a personal care assistant for 13 years retiring in 2008.  She had previously worked at the N.D. Cass Company for many years and two companies in Gardner.  She enjoyed collecting antiques and loved animals.          She leaves her companion, David Hood of Athol; three brothers, Richard Young and his wife Sharon of Farmington, NH, David Young of Orange and James Young of Athol; four sisters, Carol McCall of Vacaville, CA, Helen Bassett and her husband Donald and Betsy Geikie and her husband Jim, both of Athol and Janice Tiilikala and her husband Rick of Leominster and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her beloved cats, Spunky and Peanut.  She was predeceased by her husband of 20 years, Merrimam Horace Tatro who died in 1991.      A graveside service will be held at Silver Lake Cemetery Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 1:00 p.m..  The family suggests those wishing to make a contribution in Marie’s name be made to the Athol Animal Shelter, for the care of animals, c/o Athol Police Department, 280 Exchange Street, Athol, MA 01331.  Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol is directing arrangements.   For further information or to share a memory with the family go to:  www.higginsoconnorfuneralhome.com. $(document).ready(function(){ });
