ATHOL – Marilyn E. (Mills) Willey, 85 of Athol, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017 at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Born is Athol on April 15, 1932, she was the daughter of Elizabeth (Hume) and Leon V. Mills. She graduated from Athol High School with the Class of 1950. She married Clyde E. Willey on July 11, 1950 who was in the military. While in the service, they traveled until he retired after 20 years, living in Ft. Knox, Germany, Ft. Campbell and Hawaii. Coming back to Athol, she worked at the Fleetwood Nursing Home (Quabbin Valley) and then was employed by the Athol Hospital as a respiratory therapist assistant, retiring in 1999 after 27 years of service. She was a member of the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church, the Athol Hospital Auxiliary, Order of the Easter Star Themis Chapter #30. She enjoyed genealogy, traveling to the beach with her friends and family and loved lighthouses.
She is survived by three daughters: Magdalene M. Canon of Winchester, NH, Laura L. Barboza of Athol, Kathy K. Lee of Winchester, NH; one son: Clyde E Willey Jr of Athol; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Clyde E. Willey Sr, her grandson Ross Barboza and son-in-law Richard E. Lee Jr. and Ronald L. Tanguay.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol. A reception will follow in Fellowship Hall at the Starrett Memorial Methodist Church, 40 Island St., Athol.
