ATHOL - Marion L. (Durkee) Adams, 91, of Athol passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at home. Marion was born on August 17, 1924 in Orange, MA, daughter of the late Charles and Ellen (Anderson) Durkee. Her husband Carlton B. Adams passed away on February 27, 2012. Marion had three children, Karen Chesley, Judy Luzzi, and Larry Adams.
Marion grew up in Orange, graduating from Orange High School with the class of 1942. Since graduation she resided in Athol.
She was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church.
For many years, Marion enjoyed camping with her husband and family travelling throughout New England and down the east coast in their motor home. She was a bit of a card shark and would never turn down an opportunity to play a game of Rummy. She was also an avid baker and loved crocheting, yard sales and most especially spending time with her family, close friends and beloved pets.
She is survived by Karen Chesley and her husband, Alfred, of Chesterfield, NH, Judy Luzzi and her husband, Anthony, of Sterling, and Larry Adams and his wife, Judy, of Wrentham, her grandchildren, Lisa Prince, Brad Chesley, Jill Adams, Jason Adams and Christopher Adams, as well as nine great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Clement, Stanley and Norman Durkee.
A graveside service will be held on May 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Silver Lake Cemetery, Silver Lake Street, Athol.
