Marjorie A. Delay

GARDNER - Marjorie A (Bolster) Delay, 94, passed away Monday, November 18 after a short period of declining health.  Marge was born in Gardner on June 30, 1925, daughter of the late Robert L and Teresa F (Gibbons) Bolster.   She was a lifelong resident of Gardner, graduating from Gardner High School in 1943.   She went on to earn a degree in Psychology at Mount Holyoke College with the class of 1947.  Marge married Philip H Delay June 25, 1949.   Marge was predeceased by her husband Phil and her son Dennis Delay.  She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Marita (Bolster) and Atty. John Bohman of Gardner.  She leaves Deborah (Delay) and Roger Gustafson of Gardner, Douglas and Patricia Delay of Winchendon, Drucilla (Delay) Faucher of Haverhill, David and Debra Delay of Milford, NH, Deirdre (Delay) and Steven Forte of Portsmouth, NH, and Daniel Delay of Nantucket.  She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Marilyn (White) Delay of Manchester NH, sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.    Marge was employed by the Levi Heywood Memorial library and volunteered at The Gardner Museum and Friends of the Library.  She was a lifelong Boston sports fan, with a particular affection for the Red Sox.  She enjoyed reading and gardening; played tennis into her 80's; created a warm and nurturing home; and most of all, treasured time with her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 10 am in Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell Street, Gardner.  Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery Gardner. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 5 - 7 pm in the Mack Family Funeral Home 105 Central St., Gardner.
