Mark Russell Auger

September 4, 1961 — December 23, 2023

Gardner

On December 23rd, Mark Russell Auger passed away at UMass Hospital in Worcester after an 11-year battle with lymphoma. Born in Montague to the late Ronald Auger and the late Lynne (Putnam) Auger on September 4th, 1961, Mark spent his childhood in Orange and graduated from Ralph C. Mahar High School in 1979. After graduating, Mark worked as a machinist at Harrington-Richardson Firearms in Gardner for several years before taking a job with Data Guide Cable in 1997, where he remained until his death. A resident of Gardner, Mark shared the past 23 years of his life with his girlfriend, Holly Hill and her children, whom he loved as his own. Mark's favorite sport was football. He was an avid skier and golfer and a NASCAR enthusiast. His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as "puppa" & “pup dog”.

Mark had a very easy going nature, a great sense of humor and loved his family above all else. He was a dedicated, hard-working employee and a loyal friend. Throughout his illness, he always tried to remain optimistic and positive. Despite his disease, his death was unexpected and we are heartbroken and he will be greatly missed. Aside from his parents, Mark was predeceased by a brother, Kirk Harris as well his grandparents, Russell & Mildred Kennedy; his uncle, John Putnam and his aunt, Kathleen Putnam. Marks leaves behind his girlfriend, Holly Hill; their daughter, Erika Brasher and her husband Samuel Ramos; their son, Shawn Hill and his wife Jacquelyn Bergert; his grandchildren Sammy, Jocelyn, Amadio and Emilio Ramos and Camden and Dominic Hill. He also leaves behind his Aunt Patricia (Putnam) Walters; a niece, Patricia Harris: and his cousins, Dan Putnam, Joan Putnam-Hamlett, Amy Putnam-Sanden, Gregory Walters and Geoffrey Walters. Mark will be laid to rest with his grandparents at Highland Cemetery in Athol in a private graveside service at a later date, and there will be no visitation.
