SARASOTA, FLORIDA - Mark Arthur Young, 40, of Sarasota, Florida formerly of Gardner died at his home on September 26, 2010.
He was born in Orange, NJ on January 26, 1970 and grew up in Gardner. He attended Gardner Public Schools and graduated from Gardner High in 1988. Mark played hockey for 4 years of high school and was on the state championship hockey team. He graduated from University of Massachusetts in 1993.
Mark moved to Florida in 1994, he worked at various companies delivering restaurant supplies, in-home medical equipment and office supplies.
Mark played hockey after moving to Florida. He coached his son's soccer team, volunteered at his children's school, was treasurer of his home owners association, and volunteered at many charities in the Sarasota/Bradenton area.
Mark is survived by his wife, Anne Marie [Wilson] Young, son Zachary Young [11], daughter Claudia Young [7] all of Sarasota; his parents Arthur and Ann Young of Gardner, by two brothers Adam and his wife Carey of El Cerrito, CA, and Matthew and his partner Peter of Sydney Australia; and by his sister Victoria Whipple and her husband Charles of Leominster.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Church, 358 Pleasant St., Gardner on Saturday, October 16 at 10:30 am. There will be a private burial at a later date.
