Martha M. Johnson

GARDNER - Martha M. (Laurila) Johnson, 95 of Gardner, died Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Alliance Health at Baldwinville. She was born in Leicester, MA, on February 29, 1924, the daughter of the late August and Aina (Mantyla) Laurila. Martha grew up in Leicester and graduated from Leicester High School. In her early years she worked as a secretary for the former Short Line Bus Company in Worcester. She lived in Rutland before moving to Gardner in 1964. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Gardner.  She enjoyed gardening, music and her family. She provided eleven years of excellent care for her husband after he suffered a debilitating stroke. She leaves two daughters, Linda A. Ramsdell and her husband Randy of Ashburnham, Carol M. Nolin and her husband Steven of Gardner; three grandchildren, Sean A. Ramsdell of Tampa, FL, Kristina L. Nolin of Wilmington, MA, Brian J. Nolin of Wilmington, MA. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Raymond A. Johnson who passed in 1997; and by two brothers, Arthur Laurila and Toivo Laurila. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 13, 2020 at 11:00 am in the Mack Family Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Monday from 10-11 am at the funeral home.
