Mary A. Waters
Athol – Mary Aline (Caissie) Waters, 85, of Oak Ave., died Monday, July 29, 2014 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare.
Mary was born in Gardner, MA June 19, 1929, the daughter of Marcel and Menda (Boucher) Caissie. She grew up in Baldwinville attending schools in Gardner and Baldwinville. Mary lived in Royalston for many years and since 1991 has resided in Athol.
Mary worked as assistant manager at area Cumberland Farms for several years and had previously worked at the N.D. Cass Company, Athol Comb Shop and the Gardner State Hospital.
She was a former member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church in So. Royalston, enjoyed traveling the U.S. and Canada with family and friends, cooking, and reading. She was devoted to her extended family, and a doting grandmother to her grand-dog Lexi.
She leaves a daughter Menda Waters and her companion Stanley Neubert of Northfield; two brothers, Donald Casey of Barre and Gerard (Buster) Caissie of Baldwinville, a sister, Dorothy Kirby of Baldwinville and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Alfred S. Waters in 1996 and several brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 1, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 1 Forest Ave., Baldwinville with the Rev. Francis Roberge, pastor officiating. Burial will follow at Jonas Alliene Cemetery in Royalston. In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made in Mary’s name to: the Athol Animal Shelter, “for the care of animalsâ€, c/o Athol Police Dept. 280 Exchange St., Athol, MA 01331, or the Athol Firefighters Association, c/o the Athol Fire Department, 2251 Main Street, Athol, MA 01331.
