Mary L. Arens

GARDNER - Mary L. (Pielock) Arens, 91, of 62 Bickford Hill Rd., Gardner, died Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Gardner on December 9, 1916, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Pauline (Koldys) Pielock. Mrs. Arens worked in housekeeping for the Boston Hotel many years ago, then as a hostess for the Sumerset Hotel. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Gardner. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband, David Arens, and was proud to have met several Presidents, and received Christmas cards from Gerald Ford. She leaves her dear friends, Wilfred Ducharme and his wife Evelyne of Gardner, and their three children, Christine Wilson and her husband Scott of Gardner, Brian Ducharme and his wife Melissa of Lunenburg, Buddy Ducharme and his wife Cathy of Navarre, FL. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, David Arens, who died on November 22, 2000, and by her brother, Charles Pielock, who was killed in action as a Merchant Marine during WWII on June 24, 1942. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant St., Gardner. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Gardner. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 29, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
