Mary J. Bennett

ATHOL- Mary J. (Linde) Bennett, 91, of Athol, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at home. Mary was born October 31, 1924 in Fitchburg. She is the daughter of the late Jacob and the late Yvonne (Rajiala) Linde. Mary grew up and lived in Fitchburg for many years, graduating from Fitchburg High School. She later moved to Townsend and since 1983 has resided in Athol. She attended the Athol Congregational Church. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by four daughters: Donna Abbott and husband Al of Gardner, Linda Pellecchia and friend Don of Fitchburg, Cheryl L'Ecuyer and husband Peter of Athol, Barbara Denis and friend Carl of Templeton; three step sons: Robert Bennett, Jr. of SC, Ernest Bennett of Minneapolis, MN, Gary Bennett and wife Kathy of Templeton; one step daughter: Christine LeClair and husband Dennis of Fitchburg; twenty grandchildren: Paul, Patty, Linda, Tina, Steven, Stacey, Jennifer, Bobby, Jamie, Jared, Corey, Matthew, Michael, Kevin, Diana, Brenda, Robert, Lucy, Lisa and Dawn; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Robert C. Bennett, and two grandchildren, Bobbi John and Christina. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 9:00 AM in the Athol Congregational Church, 1225 Chestnut St., Athol, with Rev. Beverly Prestwood –Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Woodside Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held Friday, April 1, from 5-7 pm, in the Higgins O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St. Athol, MA.
