Gardner- Mary M. (Bliss) Buiwit, 92, of Gardner, died Monday November 18, 2013 in Legend Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born in Shellburn, Ma on October 16, 1921, the daughter of the late Bert and Theresa (Nimmons) Bliss.
Mary Grew up in Adams, MA and graduated from high school in 1940. In the mid 1970’s, Mary, her husband and Theresa operated The Fabric Outlet from their home in Gardner. She continued to work as an information operator for AT&T and Verizon for 20 years until her retirement. When she was younger, she worked at the former Five and Dime Store where she met her late husband of 63 years Edward Buiwit.
Mary was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, and Sacred Heart Church. She will forever be remembered as a loving and giving person.
Mary leaves behind her daughter Theresa Cormier and her partner James Joiner of Gardner.
She was predeceased by her husband, one brother Norman Bliss and one sister Bernice Bliss.
At Mary’s request, funeral services and burial will be private.
Mary’s daughter would like to give special thanks to the staff at Legends Healthcare for the loving and devoted care that they gave Mary during her stay with them. She would also like to thank Gardner VNA and Beacon Hospice for their loving care.
