Mary R.A. (Draleau) Moore

Mary R. A. Moore Athol – Mary R. A. (Draleau) Moore, 86, died Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare.      Mary was born August 5, 1928, in Lancaster, MA, the daughter of Dennis P. and Mary (Demacure)     Draleau.  She grew up in Lancaster where she attended schools, also living in Leominster, Winchendon and Royalston for many years and since 1996 has resided in Athol.        Mary worked as a nurse’s Aide for many years while living in Winchendon.  She loved traveling, especially to Las Vegas, enjoyed crossword puzzles and cards, was a member of the V.F.W. Woman’s Auxiliary, but most especially enjoyed spending time with her large family.        She leaves a son Edward Moore, III of Gardner; four daughters, Susie Doucette of Orange, Debbie Christian, June Wilson and Sandra Goodwin, all of Athol; 36 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert “PeeWee” Draleaus of Fitchburg and Armand Draleau of Leominster.  She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Edward Moore in 1996; three daughters, Teri, Paula and Carol; a brother, Paul Draleaus; a sister, Pauline Moore and three grandchildren.        Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014 at noon at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol with the Rev. Fr. Francis Roberge, pastor of St. Vincent DePaul Church in Baldwinville officiating.  Burial will follow at Jonas Alliene Cemetery in Royalston and there will be a calling hour from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.   In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions may be made in Mary’s name to: Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA  02472.
