ORANGE - Mary Jane (Hames) Hiett passed peacefully January 1, 2009. "Janie" was born August 24, 1928 in Orange, MA, the daughter of the late Robert and Beatrice (St. Lawrence) Hames. She was the loving wife of the late William K. Hiett whom she traveled with after retiring from Greenfield Tap and Dye after working for twenty years as a secretary. After the death of her husband, she chose to make her home in Orange, MA to live a quiet life and to be near her family. Her younger sister, Nancy Picard, predeceased her. She is survived by a sister, Barbara (Comstock) Ellis of Orange, MA, and a brother, Richard Hames of Spencer, MA, fourteen nieces and nephews along with many great nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. Graveside services will be at The South Cemetery in Orange on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Nancy (Hames) Picard Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Athol High School 2363 Main St., Athol, MA 01331.
