LEOMINSTER- Mary T. (Lanza) Cruz, 89, of Leominster, died Friday, October 3, after an illness.
She was born August 23, 1925, in Leominster, a daughter of the late Dominick and Rose (Morroni) Lanza. She lived in Leominster all her life and attended Leominster schools. She was a member of Saint Anna’s Church and the Society of Saint Anna. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella, an auxiliary member of the D.A.V., the Golden Agers of Leominster, and the Leominster Senior Center. She was an avid reader, gardener, a wonderful cook, and enjoyed amateur photography. Throughout her life she cherished and adored her children, granddaughters and great granddaughters. She always showed them unconditional love and support.
Her husband of 54 years, Herminio A. Cruz, died in 2005. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Lisa Frechette in 2002, and her brother, Robert J. Lanza in 2011.
She leaves her son, Robert P. Cruz of Leominster; two granddaughters, Jillian Rose (Frechette) Ozmore of Litchfield, NH, and Mary Beth (Frechette) Hawthorne of Leominster; two great granddaughters, Emma and Alison Ozmore; sister, Patricia Lanza of Fitchburg; sister-in-law, Helmi Lanza of Leominster; nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, October 11, at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Anna’s Church, 199 Lancaster St., Leominster. Burial will follow in Saint Leo’s Cemetery for both Mary and her late husband Herminio.
