GARDNER - Mary R. (Bishop) Maynard, 93 of 104 Church Street, Gardner, died Saturday, January 30, 2016 at home. She was born in Wakefield, MA, on March 13, 1922, the daughter of the late Joseph W. and the late Mabel (Glynn) Bishop. Mrs. Maynard resided in Gardner since 1932. She worked as a clerk for the Gardner District Court. Mary was a communicant and a founder of Holy Spirit Church in South Gardner. She was a member of the former Holy Family League of Catholic Charities, a member of AARP, the Gardner Golden Age Club, and the Chair City Walkers. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Maynard. Loving mother of Janet M. Huntington and her husband Frederick of Cheshire; Mary Ann Fitzgerald and her husband Michael of Milton; C. Michael Maynard and his husband, Quan Nguyen of Houston, TX; Robert A. Maynard and his wife Cindy of Waterbury, VT; and daughter-in-law Patricia Maynard of Northampton. She was the sister of Margaret Murdock of Baldwinville; Joseph W. Bishop of Gardner; and the late Grace Jean Legere of Fitchburg. She is survived by 10 grandchildren: Cheryl Powers of Westfield; Lynne Maynard of Somerville; Sarah Huntington of Cheshire; Scott Huntington of Woodbridge, CT; Amy Kogut of Boston; Megan Maynard of San Francisco, CA; Tyler Maynard of New York City; Anna Maynard of Denver, CO; Jillian Fitzgerald of New York City; and Erin Fitzgerald of Washington DC. The loving great-grandmother of Madelyn and Francis Powers, Isabella and Georgia Kogut, Oliver Maynard, and Frederick X. Huntington. The family would like to thank the French Connection, Montachusett Home Care, and the Gardner VNA Hospice staff for their compassionate care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 1:00 pm in Holy Spirit Chapel (Annunciation Parish), 50 Lovewell St., Gardner. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. No calling hours are scheduled. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in her memory to Levi Heywood Memorial Library Association, 55 West Lynde Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
