GARDNER - Mary L. “Lou” Meunier, 92 of 50 Pine St., Gardner who lived and raised her family in Templeton died Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Heywood Commons.
She was born in Pawtucket,Rhode Island on July 3, 1927, the daughter of George and Margaret King.
She married Bernard “Bing” H. Meunier on June 26, 1943. After raising a family of nine children she was instrumental in setting up the Headstart program in this region. She was one of the original teachers.
She and her husband Bing were founding members of Holy Cross Church in East Templeton. She was a very active member for many years and president of the Rosary Sodality.
She leaves seven children, Richard Meunier and his wife Bonnie of Menden; Roland Meunier and his wife Pat of Templeton; Kevin Meunier of Fort Lauderdale Florida; Mary Curtis and her husband Richard of Templeton; Bernadette Arsenault and her husband Randy of Homer, Alaska; John Meunier and his husband Jim Flanagan of Boston; Amy Jackson of Gardner; 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephew‘s who she loved dearly.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard H. Meunier; by two sons, Bernard J. Meunier, David Meunier, by two brothers, George King, Frank King; and by her son Kevin’s partner, John McNamara.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 26, 2019 at 11 AM in Holy Cross Church, 25 Lake Ave., East Templeton. Burial will follow and St Johns Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 2–4 p.m. at the Mack Family Funeral Home ,105 Central St., Gardner.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in her memory to Holy Cross Church, Disabled Access Fund, 25 Lake Ave., E. Templeton, MA 01468 or to the Heywood Commons, Resident Activity Fund, 50 Pine St., Gardner, MA 01440.
