GARDNER & STURBRIDGE- Mary K. (O’Brien) Treml, formerly of Gardner, passed away this summer at her daughter's home, where she lived.
She was born December 6, 1916, in Worcester, daughter of the late Roland and Ellen (Fitzgerald) O’Brien. Mary graduated from St. Stephen’s High School in Worcester, and St. Vincent’s School of Nursing. She was a private duty registered nurse in Turner’s Falls and at Gardner Manor for many years, as well as at Henry Heywood Hospital in Gardner. Mary was a lifelong Red Sox fan and loved to sing and dance. She also enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and knitting, and was especially fond of spending time with her family, who loved her dearly.
She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Francis Treml, on April 30, 2000, four brothers, and two sisters.
She leaves her daughter, Anne Abbott and her husband , Nathan of Sturbridge; two granddaughters, Ellen M. Abbott-Almiron and her husband, John, of Ellington, CT, and Erin M. French and her husband, Marc, of Sturbridge.
The funeral Mass and burial were private. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY, 13220-3049.
Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner, assisted the family with arrangements.
