ATHOL-Mary Anne T. (Salahna) Burnham, 66, of 94 Moore Hill Road, died Friday, October 4, 2002 at home, following a lengthy illness. Her husband of 40 years, Roy W. Burnham, died in 1996. She leaves a son, Michael J. Burnham of Athol; four daughters, Susan M. Sargent of Phillipston, Theresa A. Burnham of Royalston, Diann C. Burnham of Boston, and Nancy E. Burnham of Athol; her mother, Anna Salahna of Athol; a brother, Stanley T. Salahna, Jr. of Athol; two granddaughters, Quinn Sargent and Rhetta Guimond; three grandsons, Christopher Burnham, Patrick Sargent, and Beau Guimond; her uncle, Leon Mazialnik of Athol; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was born in Gardner, Mass. April 25, 1936, daughter of Stanley T. and Anna (Mazialnik) Salahna, and was a lifelong resident of Athol. She graduated from Athol High School with the class of 1954. Mrs. Burnham was a secretary for 10 years in the purchasing department at the L. S. Starrett Company, and got through in 1995 due to illness . Previously, she worked as a key punch operator at the former Union Twist Drill Company. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and dancing. At one time, she liked bowling, and was a member of the U.T. D. Bowling League. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and Charlie, the family dog. The funeral will be held Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002 fro the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main Street, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 105 Main Street. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be made to Athol High School Scholarship Association, P. O. Box 338 , Athol, MA 01331. $(document).ready(function(){ });
