MaryLee N. (Wright, Laffond) Meuse

ATHOL – MaryLee N. (Wright, Laffond) Meuse, of Athol, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 in comfort and dignity, at Applewood Home for Elders. Born in Northampton, MA on January 11, 1933, she was raised by her parents Frank and Rosalie Wright, in Petersham and south Athol. After graduation from Athol high School, she married Richard Laffond and together they raised their family in South Athol. After Richard’s death, she married Robert Meuse with whom she shared many adventures and traveled extensively. She is survived by three sons and their families: Brian Laffond and his wife Debbie, grandchildren Alison LeBlanc (Andrew) and Katherine Zane (Steven), and great grandchildren Eve, Thomas, Josephine Susannah and Grey; Reggie Laffond and his wife Denise, grandchildren Reggie (Ashley Shaw) and Mallory (Ethan Willhite), and great grandchildren Cadence, Sophie, Dylan and Dawson; Bill Laffond and his wife Laura, and grandchildren Jeff (Brittany), Kevin and Julia (Brendan Shorts). She also leaves many extended family members and friends. For those who knew her, she leaves a rich and colorful legacy of memories. She was predeceased in death by her husbands Richard Laffond and Robert Meuse, a lifelong friend Gwen Meuse and her special companion-dog Benjie. She was retired from both Starrett Tool and Athol Memorial Hospital. She loved making friends, and enjoyed interacting with patients during her time there. Many patients at the hospital expressed joy and comfort from her presence and care during their hospitalization. She loved her hometown of Athol, and was blessed to find a lasting and caring community at Applewood, in Athol. The family would like to express grateful thanks to all who helped her in her life journey, especially staff of Heywood Wakefield Commons in Gardner, Applewood Home for Elders and Summit Eldercare. A Funeral service will be held Monday, September 13, 2021 at 11:30 at the Fiske-Murphy & Mack funeral Home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange, MA. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. A Calling hour will be held from 10:00 – 11:30 in the funeral home prior to the service.
