ATHOL - Matilda (Shillingas) Mikulskis, 90 of 2018 Main Street, Athol, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011 after a short illness at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Germany, on February 8, 1921, the daughter of the late Pijius and the late Agota (Bendokaite) Shillingas.
She lived in Lithuania and Germany while growing up and moved to the United States in 1952 settling in Athol.
She enjoyed flower gardening, her pets, traveling, cooking for her family and she loved her children and grandchildren very much.
She leaves five daughters: Veronica Mikulskis of Athol, Donna Thomas and her husband Mel of Orange, Laima Manseau and her husband Bob of Agawam, Beruta Augustine and her husband Rey of South Deerfield, Kristina Farnum and her husband Dean of Athol; four sons: Jeronimas "Sonny" Mikulskis of Chicopee, Alphonse Mikulskis of Athol, Vytautas Mikulskis of Athol, Anthony Mikulskis of Athol; eight grandchildren, Eric Thomas of Virginia; Kristal Thomas of Orange, Andrew Farnum of Orange, Michael Farnum of Orange, David Farnum of Athol, Emily Farnum of Athol, Rey Augustine, Jr. of Westfield, Kyle Augustine of South Deerfield; two great grandchildren, Sierra Farnum and Bryce Farnum both of Orange; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Stanley Mikulskis who died in 1998; by a brother, Stasys Shillingas, and by three sisters, Anna Leichner, Jevase Astromskiene and Marija Vaitkevicius.
Funeral services will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial donations be made in her memory to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 101 Main St., Athol, MA 01331.
