ATHOL - Maureen A. (Hayne) Gallant, 60, of 24 Gibson Drive, Athol, MA died on March 29, 2011 at the UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus in Worcester.
She was born in Gardner on August 8, 1950, the daughter of the late Edward R. and Mary A. (Reynolds) Hayne, Sr.
Ms. Gallant graduated from Athol High School with the class of 1968. While in high school, she was a member of the Ski Club, the Gymnastics Team, Chorus, One Act Play, and Class Day Activities. Ms. Gallant attended Mount Wachusett Community College, receiving her Associate's Degree in Secretarial Sciences in 1970, and the Word Processing Certificate in 1986. She resided in Pennsylvania and in Wisconsin before settling back in Athol several years ago. She was previously employed by the Athol Memorial Hospital for several years, starting in high school as kitchen help, then later becoming Unit Clerk, Central Registration Clerk, and also worked in the EKG Department. She also assisted several doctors in the area with secretarial duties, including John Raughtigan, M.D. and Charles Pierson, M.D. offices of the Medical Arts Center. She was also employed by James Eisenhower, Atty. In Wauwatosa, WI. She was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church. Maureen enjoyed watching the Red Sox and the Patriots, gardening, bird watching, and spending time on the computer. She also enjoyed spending vacations in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, visiting with her
daughters.
She leaves two daughters, Holly M. Gallant of Milwaukee, WI, and Michelle E. Gallant of Milwaukee, WI; three sisters, including her identical twin Kathleen M. Progen and her husband Edmond of Athol, Susan M. Cote' and her husband Raymond of Shrewsbury, Janet E. Geesling and her husband Bruce of Stafford, VA; and one brother, Edward R. Hayne, Jr. of Barre; nieces and nephews, Doug Cote, Carolyn Medina, Shawn Progen, Sarah Melanson, Jessica Galloway, Courtney Geesling, Nathan Hayne and Kayleigh Hayne.
She was predeceased by her nephew, Christopher Cote.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol.
Burial in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol, will be private.
Calling hours will be held Friday, April 1, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange.
