ATHOL - Max L. Winchester, 91 of 211 Bryant St., Athol, died Sunday, September 29, 2013 in the Athol Hospital, Athol.
He was born in Booth Point, Tennessee, on March 20, 1922, the son of the late Marion W. and the late Martha E. (Hainey) Winchester.
He served during World War II in the Air Force .
He had lived in Athol since 1944. He was employed at the L.S. Starrett Company for 34 years he retired in 1984. He was a member of the Athol Congregational Church and the Veterans Administration.
He leaves his wife of 68 years, Barbara M.(Briggs) Winchester; two sons, Brian L. Winchester and his wife Linda of Baldwinville, Bruce A. Winchester and his wife Faith of Haverhill, MA; four grandchildren, Daphne, Tracie, Erin, Wesley and by three great grandchildren Jeffrey, Bree and Grace.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Judy A. Colbath; by three brothers, Alfred Winchester, Homer Winchester, Thomas Winchester; and by two sisters, Lillian Jordan and Geneva Hansen.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday October 2, 2013 at 10 a.m. in Highland Cemetery, Highland Ave., Athol.
There are no calling hours.
