MONTAGUE - Melvina M. (Jean) Tetreault Mitchell, 86, of 15 Sunrise Terrace, Turners Falls, died Monday, May 31, 2010 at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.
She was born in Athol on February 28, 1924, the daughter of the late Felix and the late Rebecca (Paulin) Jean.
Melvina was raised and educated in Athol and resided in Turner's Falls for most of her life. Many years ago, she worked as an Assembler for the Millers Falls Tool Company and more recently worked for the former Alpine Furniture Company in Montague as an upholsterer.
Melvina volunteered her time to the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Athol for fifteen years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren.
She leaves her former husband, Lanny R. Mitchell of Athol; two sons, Robert M. Tetreault and his wife Jane of Greenfield, David P. Tetreault and his wife Deborah of Turners Falls; nine grandchildren, Todd, Richard, Glenn, Jessica, Christi, Kelly, Laura, Michelle, Samantha; thirteen great-grandchildren, T.J., Kobe, Ryan, Sasha, Cheyenne, Nathan, Priscilla, Glenn Jr., Felicity, Jeffrey, Austin, Madisyn, Dakotah.
Melvina was predeceased by her former husband, Ernest G. Tetreault, and by many brothers and sisters.
Funeral services and burial in Lower Cemetery, Phillipston, will be private.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Patient Needs Fund, Baystate Franklin Medical Center, 164 High Street, Greenfield, MA 01301 or to The Salvation Army, 107 Ridge Avenue, Athol, MA 01331-1708.
