Mervyn F. Pandiscio

Athol- Mervyn F. Pandiscio, 73 of 739 Daniel Shays Highway, died May 4, 2007 at Birchwood Health Facility in Fitchburg. Mr. Pandiscio was born on February 16, 1934 in Fitchburg the son of the late Fiori J. and Elizabeth (Sharron) Pandiscio. Mr. Pandiscio served in the United States navy in Kwajalein and then Okinawa. He was selected by the commandant of the Okinawa Naval Base as a chauffeur for visiting dignitaries, including the Secretary of the Navy, Charles S. Thomas. After leaving the service, he drove tractor trailer cross-country and was a motorcoach operator for Peter Pan. Mr. Pandiscio eventually owned and operated Most Wanted Auto Sales on Route 13 in Leominster. Upon retiring he moved to Riverbend Woods in Athol where he has resided for the past 11 years until his death. He was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church in Athol, a member of the D.A.V. and Commanders Club, the American Legion Post #102. Mr. Pandiscio was an avid golfer and member of the Petersham Country Club. He received the Master-Hole-In-One Award for Hole #2 195 yards, on June 21, 1997. He enjoyed bowling and cooking meals for his friends. Mr. Pandiscio took great pride in his vegetable garden, sharing its fruit with members of the community. He is survived by his sister, Myrna Pandiscio of Lancaster, MA; and close friends, Richard and Jane Lachance of Athol, Todd and Gwinney Terhune of Leominster, and Chilanne, his dog and constant companion for the past 14 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street, Athol. Burial will take place in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main Street, Athol.
