Gardner, MA/Mammoth Lake, CA-Michael Francis Bowse, 57, of Mammoth Lakes, CA died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 in Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, CA. Michael was born in Gardner, MA 0n April 13, 1950. He was the son of Irene M. Bowse and the late George F. Bowse of Gardner. He grew up in Phillipston and Gardner. He was a graduate of Gardner High School, class of 1968. Michael enlisted in the Army at the age of 17, where he served as an n infantryman in Korea, on the de-militarized zone. After leaving the Army he moved to California. He resided in Mammoth Lakes, CA for the past 30 years working in the hospitality industry. "Mountain Mike" as he was affectionately known, was an avid skier and sportsman, who enjoyed fishing; bird hunting; hiking; golfing, and going to field trials with his dogs. He was a breeder of Chocolate Labs, who he loved dearly and had earned the name "Dog Father" within his circle of dog friends. He will be greatly missed by family and friends on both the East and West coasts. He leaves his mother, Irene m. Bowse of Gardner; his brothers, Walter J. Bowse and wife Kathleen of Nottingham, NH, George F. Bowse, Jr. and his wife Jane of Salt Lake City, UT, and Mark D. Bowse of Westminster; two sisters, Kathleen A. Bowse-Hatfield and husband Peter of Fitchburg, and Bonnie J. Marabello and husband Jim of Gardner; four nephews, four nieces, two grandnephews, and two grandnieces. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner. Funeral arrangements are under the directions of the John H. Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon Street, Gardner.
