TEMPLETON - Michael Guy "Mike"‚ Elliott, 49, of Templeton, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at UMass Medical Center on Wednesday evening, March 25, 2009 after injuries sustained from a fall. In death Mike gave the gift of life to others by being an organ donor.
Michael was born on October 14, 1959 in Gardner. He is survived by his parents, Wayne E. and Colleen "Pat" (Robinson) Elliott of Templeton; three sisters, Kelley Griffin and her husband Peter of Gardner, Luanne Royer and her husband Tom of Phillipston; Terri Langlois and her husband Mike of Templeton; several nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Jeff Oliva, Mark and Heather Corey, Adam and Kristine Royer, Nick, Kurt, and Jacob Langlois; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his twin brothers, Ronnie Elliott and Rodney Elliott, and by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Michael grew up in Templeton and graduated in 1977 from Narragansett Regional High School. He also attended Mount Wachusett Community College and Franklin Pierce College. He was previously employed by the W.E. Fernald State School, and has worked with several contracting firms and was a self-employed painter.
Michael enjoyed fishing, playing pool and spending time with his many friends. He always enjoyed helping out a friend. He was a person who always enjoyed watching and playing sports.
Throughout his lifetime he played little league, baseball, and softball. He also holds the record at Narragansett for the most points scored in a single basketball game.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Templeton, will be private.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, March 29, 2009 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions to be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 Eighteenth St. N.W., Washington, D.C. 20006-3517.
