Michael James O'Connell

Michael J. O’Connell Worcester – Michael James O’Connell, 58, of 4 Chevy Chase Road, formerly of Athol died Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center-University Campus in Worcester, after an illness.      Michael was born in Athol June 28, 1954, the son of James and Cynthia (Fellows) O’Connell.  He grew up in Athol, graduating from Franklin County Technical School in 1976 as a master printer.  He had also lived in California and Scotland, returning to Athol for many years and since 1996 has resided in Worcester.      Michael was an award winning printer having worked for several printing companies and in recent years operated a home based lawnmower and small engine repair business.  He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus obtaining a 3rd degree knight.  Michael always enjoyed working with his hands, including baking.  He had a love for animals, his dogs Sarah, and Che and his cats Bo and Malcolm.      He leaves his wife of 16 years, Andrea (Pasquale) Tempesta O’Connell; his parents, James and Cynthia (Fellows) O’Connell of Athol; his sister, Peggy Bariloni and her husband Rev. Mark and their daughter, Ciera of Athol; a step-children, Alex and Elizabeth Tempesta of Worcester and his grandchildren, Derek and Nicole and many aunts, uncles and cousins.      A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, October 26, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street, Athol with the Rev. Fr. Karzysztof Korcz, pastor officiating.  There are no calling hours and burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in Worcester at the convenience of the family.
