GARDNER: Michael Barba Pacheco, aged 24, of Gardner, died Tuesday, July 22nd, in Brooklyn, New York. Michael was born January 5, 1990 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of John and Sandra Pacheco.
Michael was a loving brother, son, and friend who touched all who knew him. With Michael, there was never a dull moment. He loved doing magic tricks for anyone who would watch – including tourists in Times Square. Friends in town often saw him puttering up Cherry Street on one of his many mopeds, or scouring Rietta Ranch on Sundays looking for GI Joes. His inventive spirit most recently came through in his work at a 3D printing start-up in New York. But it was Michael’s service to others that we will miss most. Despite his many, many business ideas, Michael was happiest when he was helping others – working with special needs teenagers in Gardner, Washington, DC and New York , giving his time and support to his friends and family, and advocating against the injustices that surrounded him. He was genuine, loyal, and a truth-seeker who always put others before himself.
Michael is survived by his parents, John and Sandra Pacheco; his sister Rachel, his brothers, Mark and Thomas; his brother John and his wife, Mary; his maternal Grandmother Loretta Barba, and his paternal Grandmother Vincenzia Pacheco; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, including his much loved girlfriend, Hallie.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2014 at Sacred Heart Church, 166 Cross Street., Gardner. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Watertown, MA where he will be buried with his brother, Benjamin.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, July 27 from 4 to 7pm at Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner, MA.
