Mildred G. (Foster) Mann

Mildred G. Mann Athol – Mildred G. (Foster) Mann, 99, of 648 Pleasant Street, died Monday, November 04, 2013 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare.      Mildred was born January 24, 1914 in Athol, Massachusetts, the daughter of Walter and Marion (Snow) Foster.  Mildred has lived in Athol all of her life, graduating from Athol High School in 1931.      Mildred worked as a secretary at the L. S. Starrett Company for 15 years, previously working for Judge Duncan.  She was a member of the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church, being the oldest living member.  She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star-Themis Chapter, was an avid reader and enjoyed all types of knitting and crocheting.      Her husband of 55 years, A. Sumner Mann died in 1989.  She leaves nieces and nephews, Ruth O’Loughlin and her husband Bob of New Salem, Francis W. Foster and his wife Cathy of Athol, Richard E. Foster and his wife Mary Beth of Aurora, CO, Lee Foster and his wife Emily of Washington, DC and Arthur Fountain and his wife Doris of Orange.  She also leaves many grand nieces and nephews.   Besides her husband she was predeceased by three brothers, Earle, Ira and Ralph.      A graveside service will be held Friday, November 8, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Silver Lake Cemetery (upper section off Horrigan Ave.) with the Rev. Adam Randazzo, pastor of Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church officiating.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to:  Starrett Memorial United Church, Living Memorial Fund, 40 Island Street, Athol, MA  01331. Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol, MA is directing arrangements.
