OTTER RIVER - Mitchell J. Pavlosky, 86 of 230 Main St., Otter River, died Sunday, July 1, 2007 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner. He was born in Gardner, on April 17, 1921, the son of the late Marion and the late Jozefa (Poplaska) Pawlowski. Mitchell was educated in Gardner Schools and attended Mt. Wachusett Community College. He received his certification in Labor Relations Research from the University of Massachusetts as well as USF Ser., ASA Communication and USAFE. He served in the US Army Signal Corps from 1943-1946 as a Tech 4th grade. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Vicotry Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He was employed by Gem Industries in the metal shop reitring in 1970. He previously worked in the Simplex machine shop and was a news correspondent for the Gardner News. Mitchell was a communicant of St. Martin´s Church in Otter River. He was the first area Coordinator under Bishop Flannagan for the Worcester Diocese Bishop's Fund. He was active in the formation of the Little League and Lassie League, School Activities, PTA President, NRHS Adult Advisory Committee and Bicentennial Publicity Chair, served as chair of the Templeton Board of Appeal for 9 years. He was also a member of various other committee's for many years. He was a member of the Otter River Sportsman Club, Life Member of the Otter River Recreation Association, AARP, Worcester County Deputy Sherrifs Association, former Templeton Police Department Spc., Life member of the Narraganset Historical Society and ASME. He was a shop Chairman for 18 years at Gem Inudstries and a member of the Local #154-AFL-CIO. He was a self taught artist and had his worked displayed and published several times. Mitchell was very active in politics. He was a senior member of the Democratic Town Committee, Area Coordinator for Gov. E. Peabody Committee to elect J. F. Kennedy for president, area Secretary for Senator Ted Kennedy, Delegate to many Democratic state conventions, attended Democratic National Committee in Atlantic City for the nomination of President Lyndon B. Johnson. Mitchell was cited by the State House of Representatives and State Senate for Political and Community Affairs in 1980. He was a member of the Lt. Roger P. Warfield Post 373 American Legion, Polish Amerian Veteran´s of Gardner and the D.A.V. #70 of Gardner. Mitchell was predeceased by his wife Sophia (Jacki) Pavlosky in 1978. He is survived by one daughter Jacqueline Meunier and her husband Robert of Dundein, Fl. and one son Michael J. Pavlosky and his wife Lorraine of Westminster, five grandchildren, Michelle Buja of Pittsfield, N.H., David Buja of Valencio, Fl., Jesse Buja of Portland, Or., Heidi Spillers of Ashburnham, Michael Pavlosky of Gardner, five great grandchildren, Rylan Buja, Spencer Pavlosky, Jacob and Abby Spillers and Crystal Lively. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Thursday, July 5, 2007 at 11:00 am in St. Martin Church, 247 State Road, Otter River. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 5th from 9a.m. - 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home..
