Monafay M. (Fisher) Allen

April 16, 1939 — March 17, 2012

Monafay M. Allen Athol- Monafay M. (Fisher) Allen passed away with her loving family by her side on March 17, 2012.      She was born on April 16, 1939 in Burke, New York, daughter of Alfred and Aretta Fisher. Her family moved to Leverett  in 1948. Monafay graduated from the New Salem Academy in New Salem with the class of 1958. She spent her childhood working side by side with her father and siblings logging in the western Massachusetts wilderness.        Monafay worked for many years in various occupations including greenhouse gardener, leather seamstress, home health care aid, and childcare assistant. Monafay was a truly selfless angel. Her greatest passion in life was her devotion to come to the aid of anyone in need. She will always be remembered for her endless energy and fundraising abilities and creating handmade gifts of love just to make someone smile. In her leisure time, she enjoyed country music and dancing, camping, horse pulls, auto racing, sewing, crafting, and dance recitals.      She will be deeply missed by her husband of almost 25 years, Charles Allen Sr. along with his and her children; Dennis Boivin Jr. and wife Tammy, Paul Boivin and wife Sherri, all of Belchertown, Chuck and Sharon Allen, Becky Cob and husband David all of Montague, and Robin Lorance and husband Richard of Leverett; as well as three brothers, Leon, David, and Irving, sister Sally and with their spouses, and mother-in-law Ida Allen. She is predeceased by her parents, three brothers: Billy, Alfred, Dalton and wife Cheryl, and father-in-law, William Allen Sr. She will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends; along with 9 grandchildren who meant the world to her.       A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at South Congregational Church, 1066 South East Street, Amherst with the Rev. Dr. Christine Fontaine, pastor of the United Church of Christ in Wendell, officiating and all are welcome and a reception will follow in the Kenseth Room downstairs immediately following.  Contact boivinracing@peoplepc.com for details.
