Monique Akey

ATHOL- Monique Ann Akey, 62, died Friday, May 5, 2023, at Athol Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Gardner on May 12th, 1960, a daughter of the late Donald Chicoine and Mary (Laprade) (Chicoine) Dorsey.

Monique enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling with her best friend all over New England, and taking care of others.

 She is survived by her husband, Terry Akey; two sons, Ethan (Kara) Akey and Nathan (Chelsea) Akey; four grandchildren, Carson, Allison, Oliver, and Tenley; three brothers, Alan Chicoine, Leo Chicoine (Kate), and Gordon Ganson (Linda); three sisters, Colleen (Dorsey) Jansenns (Barry), Abigail (Ganson) Sargent (Larry Baker) and Heather (Ganson) Cogswell (Bob), and several nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Bruce Boutall and two sisters, Barbara Stowell and Debbie Meunier.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 18th, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 19th, 2023, at the King Phillip Restaurant at 5:00 pm for close friends and family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Monique's memory be made to the American Cancer Society.
