Nancy Gray

ATHOL - Nancy (Ward) Gray, 92, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017. Born September 15, 1924 in Athol, she was the daughter of Ralph and Margaret (Hill) Ward. She was a lifetime resident of Athol. Nancy was employed as a nurse at area nursing homes, prior to joining Athol Memorial Hospital as a pediatric nurse. After 25 years with the hospital, which she described as the best years of her professional life, she retired in 1982. Nancy continued to volunteer at the Blood Pressure Clinic. As a member of the Athol Congregational Church, she was active with the church suppers and the annual country fair. She was also an active member of the Hospital Auxiliary and the Athol Women’s Club. Nancy is survived by her son, Douglas and his wife Marsha of E. Longmeadow, daughters Peggyann Smith of Athol, Margery Kench and her husband Randolph of E. Wakefield, NH and Boynton Beach, FL. She also leaves five grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and her sister, Barbara Aldrich of Glenview, IL. A graveside service will be held in the spring.
