GARDNER/PEABODY - Nancy T. (Rapisardi) Canu, 90, of Peabody, formerly of Gardner, died Thursday, October 16, 2014, died peacefully in the North Shore Medical Center, Salem, MA She was born in Lawrence, MA, on September 29, 1924, the daughter of the late Antonio and the late Maria (Rosmarino) Rapisardi. Nancy graduated from Lawrence high School in 1942, moving to Gardner after her marriage to Mimi A. Canu in 1946. Mimi and Nancy celebrated 57 years of marriage. She was a promoter of the Miraculous Medal Association of Philadelphia, a member of the AARP #3237, South Gardner Historical Society, Gardner Museum, and a member of St. Anthony’s Basilica of Padua-Italy. She leaves two daughters: Mary Ann Flanagan and her husband, Tom of Peabody, Pauline T. Tatro and her husband, Bruce of Gardner; two sons: John A. Canu and his wife, Susie of Grand Isle, VT, and Robert N. Canu and his wife, Pam of Gardner; eight grandchildren: Sean Flanagan and his wife, Danielle, Caroline Flanagan, Jennifer Tatro Martin, Nicholas Canu, Maria Cuadra and her husband, Frank, Annie Vanslette and her husband, Neil, Joshua Canu, and Melissa Canu; five great grandchildren, Dylan Flanagan, Gianna Martin, Sarah Flanagan, Sofia Martin, and Elijah Cuadra; sister- in-law Teri Gustafson of Gardner, brother-in-law Nino Canu and his wife Bernadette of Florida, many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. She was predeceased by her husband Mimi Canu in 2003. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell St., Gardner.  Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, October 21, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and Wednesday, October 22, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Central Association of the Miraculous Medal of Philadelphia or a charity of choice. $(document).ready(function(){ });
